Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection to your Discord account. Even if someone knows your password, they can't log in without your unique 2FA code.

1. 1Open Discord on your desktop or mobile device.
2. 2Go to User Settings → My Account.
3. 3Under Password and Authentication, click Enable Two-Factor Auth.
4. 4Enter your password to confirm your identity.
5. 5Scan the QR code using an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy).
6. 6Enter the 6-digit code from the app to finish setup.

Once enabled, you'll need to enter your 2FA code whenever you:

• Log in to your Discord account
• Access your account from a new device
• Change security settings or passwords

• Your 2FA keys are securely encrypted and never stored in plain text
• Verification uses time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) for maximum security
• Discord never stores your password; credentials are verified only on your device
• Failed 2FA or login attempts trigger protective measures such as rate limits and security alerts

• Never share your 2FA or backup codes with anyone
• Use a strong, unique password that you don't reuse on other platforms
• Regularly check your Active Sessions under User Settings → Devices
• Enable login notifications and immediately log out suspicious sessions
• Keep your authenticator app updated to ensure ongoing compatibility and protection

If you've lost access to your authenticator app or phone, you can:

• Use your Discord backup codes to log in
• Disable and re-enable 2FA once you regain access to your account
