What Are Discord Security Alerts?
Security alerts are messages or emails sent by Discord when the system detects a change or activity that could affect your account. They allow you to confirm that these actions were made by you, and act quickly if something looks suspicious.
When Discord Sends Alerts
You may receive an official Discord email when:
- You log in from a new device or location
- Your password or email address is changed
- Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enabled or disabled
- A new IP address accesses your account
- Discord detects failed login attempts or suspicious behavior
How These Alerts Are Delivered
Discord only sends alerts through verified channels:
- Official email from noreply@discord.com or no-reply@discordapp.com
- Push notifications within the Discord app
- System messages after login verification
These alerts are always automated, encrypted, and tied directly to your Discord account. Discordium.org has no access to your personal alerts or login data.
How To Verify a Legitimate Email
- Check that the sender's domain is @discord.com or @discordapp.com.
- Look for a proper greeting (not "Dear User").
- Hover over any link before clicking: it must lead to https://discord.com/.
- Legitimate Discord messages never include attachments or requests for payment info.
- If unsure, view your recent login history in User Settings → My Account → View Login Activity.
How Discord Protects You
- Encrypted HTTPS login connections
- Device and location-based login checks
- Optional Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
- Account recovery options through verified email
- Built-in spam and phishing detection filters
Best Practices for Staying Secure
- Keep Two-Factor Authentication enabled on your account
- Review your Authorized Apps regularly
- Never share screenshots of Discord emails that reveal account details
- Avoid clicking links from strangers or servers you don't trust
- Always log out on shared or public devices
If You Receive a Suspicious Message
- Do not reply or click any links.
- Report the user or message directly to Discord Trust & Safety.
- Change your password immediately.
- Review your Authorized Apps and Active Sessions.
Remember: Only Discord itself can send security alerts for your account, never other users or bots.
